Right to Read ND is a nonpartisan group of parents and citizens dedicated to defending North Dakota’s right to access information freely and without discrimination. We believe in safeguarding the freedom to read and ensuring that our library and school collections reflect the diversity of our communities.
- We believe all North Dakotans have the right to free information without discrimination.
-
We will work to educate and empower our fellow citizens in North Dakota so that we can work together to protect the right to read for this generation and the next.
- We believe North Dakota library collections should be inclusive and reflect the diverse citizens of our communities.
- We reject censorship and believe that we must protect the Constitutional rights of our students and citizens to freely access information and ideas.
- We trust our teachers and librarians to curate collections and provide access to information and books.
- We believe that parents, not the government, should supervise reading choices for their own children.
- We oppose any current or future legislation that violates our Constitutional rights and infringes on the First Amendment.
- We believe that the only way to maintain equitable access to information and the free exchange of ideas is for public institutions to retain public funding. We reject any efforts to destabilize our public libraries and our public schools through defunding.
Join us today to take action and defend the right to read in North Dakota.
