Right to Read ND is a nonpartisan group of North Dakotans who have come together in response to the growing movement to limit access to books and materials in our libraries and schools.
We educate and empower North Dakotans to protect the right to read for this generation and those to come. We also work to defeat legislation that violates our constitutional rights and infringes on our First Amendment right to access information.
VALUES
-
We believe in the right to access information without discrimination.
- We oppose censorship.
- We believe that we must protect the constitutional rights of our students and citizens to freely access information and ideas.
- We trust teachers and librarians to choose materials and provide free access to information and books.
- We believe that parents, not the government, should supervise reading choices for their own children.
-
We support our public institutions and oppose any efforts to defund public libraries and public schools.
- We believe North Dakota library collections should be inclusive and reflect the diverse citizens of our communities.
Join us today to take action and defend the right to read in North Dakota.
